How to get a Business Purposes ETA to Sri Lanka

To Visit Sri Lanka for with Multiple arrivals , Business ETA can be obtained only from;

•             Sri Lanka Overseas Missions

•             The headoffice of the Department of Immigration and Emigration (DI&E), Colombo

•             On arrival at the port of entry to Sri Lanka

Number of entries for Business ETA

Multiple, Double or single entry business ETA can be obtained from Sri Lanka Overseas Missions and the head office of the Department of Immigration and Emigration (DI&E), Colombo.

Only a Double entry business ETA can be gained from on arrival at the port of entry to Sri Lanka

Note: The traveler should produce relevant documents in proof of his business visit to Sri Lanka when submitting the application.

How to obtain ETA for Media/Journalist activities

ETA is not available on line for the under mentioned purposes:

•             To participate in Media/Journalist conferences, workshops or seminars etc.,

•             To engage in Meetings, Seminars, Conferences etc., with Political parties and groups;

•             To engage in the activities carried out by the NGO or INGO .

Approval of the appropriate authorities of the Government of Sri Lanka should be obtained by those who intend to engage in above purposes in Sri Lanka. 

Potential applicants may obtain the relevant visa by submitting proof of evidence from Sri Lanka Overseas missions and from the Visa Section of the Department of Immigration & Emigration, Colombo.

Steps to be followed:

1.            Submit the application.

2.            Receive the acknowledgement.

3.            Receive ETA approval or a referral notice.  If a referral notice is served, you may contact the nearest Sri Lanka Overseas Mission for the necessary ETA.
