Missing Lankan teacher in HYDERABAD


'Missing' Lankan teacher, returns home!

Police of Hyderabad heaved a sigh of relief when they were informed that the missing Sri Lankan teacher.

According to Uppal inspector B Bhaskar, Gamini Silva was home sick and left the lodging facility at Don Bosco school in Ramanthapur without notifying the English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) officials, where he had been attending special training-cum-English proficiency classes.

Other Sri Lankan members of the programme panicked after learning that Gamini did not return to the lodging on Sunday night and alerted the university authorities.

The Uppal police tried searching for the 44-year-old teacher at all hospitals in the city and alerted all police stations in Hyderabad and Cyberabad commissionerates. Meanwhile, other participants in the training programme kept in touch with relatives of Gamini back home.

The immigration authorities at the RGI airport were also alerted.

As the search was on, Gamini's family members called up Sri Lankan teachers here and informed them that he had safely reached home in Makola near Colombo in Sri Lanka.

"University officials confirmed that the teacher safely reached his home. From Hyderabad, he went to Chennai and took a flight to Colombo from there," the inspector said.
